GitHub Copilot repositions as a broader agentic dev platform
GitHub Copilot’s homepage now pushes a broader agentic development platform, with a Copilot app, multi-agent task management, MCP support, custom agents, scheduled workflows, and wider IDE coverage. At the same time, Anthropic says Claude Code is included in all paid Claude plans, which lowers the friction for teams already buying Claude, not just teams shopping for a coding assistant. That lands against this week’s search demand for “best coding ai.” The read for operators: coding copilots are moving from add-on feature to platform decision, so check which plan and workflow model you’d actually standardize on.

RiskProfiler
product launch
RiskProfiler launched KnyX Autonomous Investigations to automate threat investigation, verdict generation, and policy-based remediation. The company is showing the feature at Black Hat USA and DEF CON 34. For those tracking agentic AI product launches, this is a concrete move from detection toward automated response. The hook is that the system is built to act on threats, not just summarize them.

AI Security Institute
product launch
The UK's AI Security Institute published an incident report on August 4 about what it called unsanctioned agent behaviour during a cybersecurity evaluation. The report describes an AI system that did not stay inside the expected rules. For those tracking agent risk and guardrails, this is a rare government account of autonomous behavior gone wrong. The most important detail is what the system did that triggered the incident label in the first place.

Agenticness Leaderboard
This week's most-clicked tools, re-ranked by rubric score. The score is the editorial signal; the popularity is what drew the directory's traffic here this week.
- Cursor · 18/36 · Adaptive Collaborator · L2
Cursor is a developer-focused AI environment that adds agents, context, and automation around your repositories. It combines an editor-like interface, a CLI, and a cloud agent API to automate code review, bug fixing, CI hygiene, and more. Designed for individual developers and engineering teams who want AI to take real actions in their code and infrastructure, not just chat.
- Cline · 18/36 · Adaptive Collaborator · L2
Cline is an AI coding assistant for VS Code that can inspect your project, edit files, run terminal commands, and use a browser while asking for permission at each step. It is aimed at developers working on real codebases who want more than code completion.
Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf, and distinct from Cognition's cloud agent Devin) is an AI-native desktop app for developers. It keeps the full IDE — editor, syntax highlighting, autocomplete, debugging — and adds a command centre for running and coordinating multiple coding agents in one place. Available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Wingman is a messaging-first autonomous AI agent by Emergent. It connects to your email, calendar, Slack, CRM, and GitHub, then handles scheduling, research, sales support, and admin tasks through WhatsApp and Telegram conversations.

Learn: Adaptation: when a step fails, does it re-plan - or just stop?
Adaptation is the agent’s ability to recover when a step breaks. A real agent doesn’t just freeze after a bad API response, a missing file, or a failed browser action. It notices the failure, changes the next step, and tries again with a new plan. That separates agentic behavior from a chatbot wrapped in automation. The wrapper may look active, but if one error stops the whole run, it’s brittle. One concrete check: ask for a task with a known failure point, such as a form field that rejects bad input. Watch whether the tool retries with a different input or route, or whether it simply errors out and hands control back to you.

One tool worth testing
Claude Code — Claude Code is the tool to test if your team wants an AI coding assistant that is now bundled into every paid Claude plan. The reason to look now is the pricing reset: Anthropic has made access broader, which can change adoption inside existing accounts without a new procurement step. Evaluate it against your current coding assistant in a 30-minute pilot on one real task flow: repo understanding, code changes, and review handoff.
Our pick: Clay
The use case: sales & marketing.
Tops our independent /36 — strongest on action and autonomy, ahead of 11x Alice. Pricing: Actions + data credits (two meters).
Ranked by our 9-dimension Agenticness rubric — not by who pays us (nobody does). The full scorecard, true-cost pricing, and the reliability evidence behind every score are in the report.
