Claude Research is a research mode inside Anthropic’s Claude assistant. It is designed for people who need more than a single chatbot response: Claude can run multiple searches, refine what to investigate next, and synthesize the results into a more thorough answer.
This is one of Claude’s more agentic features: once enabled, it can carry out a sequence of searches on its own and cite the sources it used. That makes it useful for fact-finding and synthesis, but it is still prompted and guided from within chat rather than being a fully independent task runner.
